Meet the ladies and head rooster of Tropical Chicki, a tropical haven nestled by the rainforest in Puerto Rico. Among them are the elegant Speckled Sussex, the sunny Buff Orpington, and the striking Blue and Black Australorps, each contributing their unique flair to the flock.
The birds love to spend their days in pursuit of bugs and exploring the chicken yard with their horse and cat companions. Although their favorite time of day might be treat time! They love those delicious black solider fly larvae.
They also enjoy cuddling! Before getting chickens I had no idea how affectionate chickens could truly be. In the evenings I take my chair out to sit with the flock while they get some ‘free range’ time outside the chicken yard and I always have a queue for lap cuddles. These sweet chickens are what inspired me to start an educational chicken blog about backyard chicken keeping to share what I’ve learned and spread the joy that chickens can bring.

Chickens Who Have Crossed the Rainbow Bridge
Shimmer was such a sweet little lady. She loved hanging out with her besties Viper and Doughi. She would cuddle up with them on my lap for evening pets and she had the sweetest chatter. She will forever be missed.
